Any thoughts on how the 2026 Morris Minor will affect the value of our vintage machines?

Most horrendous AI rendition I've seen yet.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

It is totally modernistic for sure.....I knew it was boloney with no beef content...thus my comment.....anyone truly marketing a new venture would boast of appointments and show the drivetrain along with performance details.....but for sure someone was having fun. At least they were no soliciting deposits to reserve you a copy.

Keeps coming up that new Morris Minor,

But why worry of value of classics, personally I'm into classics coz I enjoy driving them, but if value and appreciation or otherwise is your bag: Just look at how the new VW beetles didn't affect the classic ones or the BMW minis the value of the classics BMC ones.

Over here in the UK pre war and 1950s cars have had their day pretty much as nostalgia generation ie the folk that admired them when they were young and the cars fresh are dying out.
My era of cars the 1960s appear ti be heading the same way.

My top tip is enjoy because you enjoy and can maintain, either by your own efforts or affording to pay some one else, else it's just money.

Well, this thread was not a serious post. I was bored and just stirring the pot, so to speak. I don't really care if they really make a new MM or not, though I'm pretty sure the UK economy won't support a new venture these days. Cars and money (other than necessary transportation) have no value, other than as a distraction from the growing BS of the world every day. If you enjoy driving them, drive them. If you enjoy working on them, work on them. Whatever! In 10 years I doubt you'll be able to give these old Mogies away. Young folks are moving away from all cars faster than us 80 year olds moved away from Model As, and such when we were young.

Not a lot of optimism there Francis smiling smiley

Not sure why Britain wouldn't support another manufacturing industry?

The Morris Minor Owners Club in the UK currently has 160 young members, not a lot but not too shabby either.

In my own little North Norfolk Morris Minors Club our youngest very active member is 27 and we have out of 60 plus members around 10% under 35.

So I would like to be optimistic, though you are right older cars are less attractive to the next generation of classic owner. The young members of my local mixed car club which has just over a hundred members, tend to have 80s Hot Hatches, though I was speaking too a couple of brothers one 18 one 20 who were completing rebuilds on a 1962 Mk1 MG Midget and a 1967 MGB (uncommon but again optimistic)

First car my then 17 year old daughter ever drove was Morris Traveller, thus when I'm pushing the daisies up, she's getting the car whether she wants it or not smiling smiley

Chillax as your thread seems to be doing well both on a humorous level and serious one.

Good mixed bag it seems to me thumbs up

All the best Johnnysmileys with beer

Hey Johnny, you're right, I don't have a lot of optimism. Sorry, I apologize for being a downer. After 14 years of dealing with painful medical stuff of my own and taking lots of drugs and being a full time caregiver for my 100% disabled, paralyzed, bed ridden and dementia plagued wife, I struggle to be even tempered, much less optimistic. That said, it will get worse before it gets worse! By paying $$$ for outside caregivers to come in a few hours here and there I do manage to build the occasional car and go to the range and play a little music and try to be a positive person. It doesn't always work.

Francis,
No need to apologise or explain,
Afraid I'm the annoying eternal optimistic.
Though even I get dragged down at times.

I have more empathy than you might think.

Keep faith my friend and remember the good timesthumbs up
