May 26th is the start of British Car Week, which is an annual British car driving awareness campaign for promoting British cars on a world-wide basis. This is our opportunity to show off our British cars to the general public, who rarely, or in many cases have never had the opportunity to get a real life close up look at these extremely interesting automobiles.
This week is all about providing opportunities for potential enthusiasts to become aware of British car marques, and to talk to car owners. If you are interested in British cars, speak to one of the members of the local Georgian Bay British Car Club (GBBCC) and find out how inexpensive it can be to own and run one of these wonderful vehicles.

2012 Canadian Historic Grand Prix at Mosport June 15-17
The Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) will hold its 34th Annual Vintage Racing Festival , renamed for 2012 as the "Canadian Historic Grand Prix" at the world-renowned Mosport International Raceway, June 15 to 17, 2012. This technically demanding, very fast 2.459 mile track and former home to the Formula One Grand Prix, Can-Am, Trans-Am and Formula 5000 is just one hour northeast of Toronto.
Corvette will be the featured marque for 2012. Corvette racing cars from across Canada and the United States will descend on the Toronto area track for the second major historic Corvette focus event following the very successful Corvette World Tribute held at Road America in Wisconsin this past August.
In addition to Corvette racing, VARAC will make High Performance Driving and Touring sessions on the Grand Prix track available to Corvette owners and there will also be lots of activities both on and off the track for Corvette Clubs and other enthusiasts including a Saturday rally/tour of the area.
To make the weekend even better for Corvette enthusiasts, Canadian racing driver and Corvette legend, Ron Fellows has tentatively agreed to act as Grand Marshall for this prestigious event.
There will be racing for six groups of cars including Monoposto (single seat open-wheel vintage & historic race cars), Small Bore Vintage & Historic Cars (under 1800cc), Big Bore Vintage & Historic Cars (over 1800cc), Wings & Slicks (very fast purpose-built racing cars running on slick tires), G70+ Cars (cars dating from 1973 to 1989 including Porsches, Mustangs, etc.) and of course Corvettes.
The weekend will also play host to the only Canadian round of the Small Bore Challenge Cup, an enduro series for small bore vintage & historic racing cars.
VARAC extends a special invitation to all drivers, crew, marshalls, volunteers and media involved with racing in past years to join in the Mosport Racer's Reunion on Sunday. This will be a great opportunity to re-connect with old friends and celebrate the history of Canadian racing. Former Canadian National Champion, Gary Magwood will host the "Legends of Mosport" driver's reunion and many of Canada's racing greats will be in attendance.
The VARAC Festival is about more than racing. This year VARAC has added a new event on Friday evening – the “Checkered Flag Charity Cruise”, which is open to all criusers with proceeds going to the VARAC charity. The cruise will be held on the Start/Finish Straight of the famed racing circuit and will give participants and spectators alike a glimpse of the excitement surrounding this race weekend. The public is encouraged to come out for the cruise as well and join the party.
Other features of the weekend include Canada's largest Mini gathering, Mini Meet North as well as the very popular "Field of Dreams" car show that welcomes sports cars and hot-rods and car clubs from far and wide with Sunday noon parade laps on-track. Entry to the car show and parade laps is free! That's a lot of action and a super value!
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the VARAC Canadian Historic Grand Prix where you are encouraged to take it all in. Walk through the paddock and get up close to the cars and drivers who will be happy to greet you. Youngsters will enjoy meeting the drivers and being photographed with the race cars. Enjoy free camping. Explore the booths of vendors of all types. Within the park you'll also find good food and beverage and modern comfort facilities.
Vintage racer, cruiser, motorsport enthusiast, sports car or Corvette owner, you won't want to miss this event! Be sure to put it on your calendar today, June 15,16,17, 2012.For more information see www.canadianhistoricgrandprix.com .or contact Bob DeShane tel: 705-878-5422 email:bob.deshane@varac.ca

Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia's Big Race Weekend Set for Aug. 4-5
The Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia announced that the 25th running of the annual British Columbia Historic Motor Races will be held on August 4-5, 2012, at the Mission Raceway Park road course.
Since 1976, the VRCBC's British Columbia Historic Motor Races have grown to become the largest vintage race event in Western Canada and one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest, with more than 100 vintage and historic racing cars and more than 3,000 spectators in attendance.
The event has become an annual gathering for vintage racing drivers and their crews, as well as local classic car enthusiasts who display their fascinating cars in a special area, creating a show of their own.
Adding to the festive atmosphere are the many sponsors' booths offering everything from automobilia and artwork, to automotive product displays. The food concessions, informative track-side commentary and excellent grandstand viewing, all make this an entertaining weekend for families as well as long-time enthusiasts.
The VRCBC is currently working on a line-up of interesting racing cars, racing celebrities and activities, which will be announced when finalized on the Club's website: www.vrcbc.ca.

"British tour in Flanders Fields" is a biennial Weekend organised by "Kemmel Historic Committee", an organisation that organise many old-timers (Classic and exclusive cars) tours mainly in West Flanders and northern France.
We live in the area of The Great War (World War I). It is a honour for us to organise an event on this theme. This in memory of those who died.
In 2008 and 2010 we have organized a "British tour in Flanders Fields". These were both successful events! A lot of participants have asked us to organize this event again.
During the weekend of 24-25-26 (27) August 2012 we are organising for the 3th time a "VIP Weekend". Like the previous times it is an "all-inclusive" weekend. For more information, see "Program 2012"
We offer our "VIP weekend" participants a well-detailed road book with a lot of information concerning "Flanders Fields", visits to Museums, attractions, and secret locations. The main highlight of the weekend is the VIP reserved space and the "Laying of wreaths" during the the "Last Post" on Saturday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also included.
The places for the "VIP Weekend" are limited to 20 rooms. Quick registration is recommended.
Until then?
The KHC team.

11th Annual Brits in the Ozarks. This year we have lined up Gerry Coker as our special guest. Most of you have probably not heard of Gerry unless you know about Austin Healeys. Gerry is a British gentleman who worked for Donald Healey and designed the 100, the 3000 and the Sprite.

Event begins on October 07, 2012 at Willoughby Farm, Middleburg, Virginia
More information at: http://www.mgcarclubdc.com/hcc/hcc_main.html
Nestled midway between historic Marshall, and lovely Middleburg, deep in the rolling hills of Virginia's incomparable Hunt Country, lies Willoughby Farm, home of our host, Barbara Scott.
In October the vista is an artist's palette of breath-taking color. This is the setting for the MG Car Club, Washington, D.C. Centre's Hunt Country Classic British Vehicle Show.
And, there's entertainment for everyone, from apple pressing for the kids, to hayrides for all to round out the day! Additional entertainment is provided by the Alexandria Pipers. Combine this with a delicious lunch, and you have the Hunt Country Classic experience...one without equal.
This year we will be continuing the Prince of Wales class. All first place winners from the previous year will automatically be entered in the prestigious Prince of Wales class. There they will be judged, and the "best of the best" will win the coveted Prince of Wales award.
Each year the Hunt Country Classic holds a silent auction, with the proceeds going to a charitable organization in the local area. Again this year we have selected the Middleburg Humane Foundation, a non-profit farm shelter for large and small animals located in Marshall, Virginia. It specializes in the rehabilitation of abused and neglected animals. Last year we raised more for MHF than in any year before. We hope to do even more this year!
