This TR8 is one of one -- the only TR8 built in Oporto Red Metallic. It's also one of 13 automatic TR8s built in 1981. The car came to me a complete mess.
The original engine was machined wrong during a failed rebuild by the previous owner. It was not worth rebuilding, so I am upgrading to a 3.9-liter to be built this winter by Mark LaGrue at D&D Fabrications North of Detroit.
The car was taken apart -- interior, suspension, drivetrain and restored. Two small areas of rust (spare wheel well and passenger side firewall) were professional repaired. Many NOS parts were used.
Now for the bad news: After 466 miles the rebuilt Borg Warner T65 automatic transmission failed. It's likely the torque converter or oil pump. No hydraulic pressure. I don't feel like I want to take the car apart again. So, open to offers. Every mechanical part of the car is new or rebuilt. With the 3.9. the car is quick.
The TR is now back in England the collection of Dr. Christopher Kenneth Smith and it has the proper 3.5-liter engine and Borg Warner 3-speed automatic installed.

It's a fun car to drive, less work than the 5-speed. TR8 automatic are very, very rare.
