Registry: 1976 Jaguar XJ6-C

I bought this very original XJ6 coupe because I have always loved the beautiful lines of the classic hardtop coupe. The car was in good shape with original paint and very little rust. The engine ran but was a bit noisy so I made the decision to turn the car into the coupe of my dreams. The engine came out and has been rebuilt with oversize tappets to fix the noise and 9:1 compression pistons. It also has SU HD8 carbs replacing the original Zenith Strombergs and a Getrag 5 speed transmission that I'd originally bought with the idea of fitting it to my Series 3 Sedan. This is a semi-homebrewed conversion rather than a kit. While the engine was out the engine bay was repainted, all the metal bits were repainted or replated The brakes and suspension were rebuilt, and the radiator was serviced.

It has since had a complete exterior repaint, European bumpers fitted, a new vinyl top and a new correct red interior installed to replace the originally badly sunfaded one. The dashboard was also refinished and most body seals have been replaced. The 5 speed transmission has done amazing things for how this car drives, as it now allows you to easily use the full rev range of the engine and the car now feels much more sporty with much faster acceleration off the line and a better set of ratios to take full advantage of the Jaguar XK engine.
