Registry: 1961 MG MGA MkII Coupe

Bought after searching for quite a while, I finally turned up a MGA Mk2 coupe in black with the red interior. I bought the car from the other side of the country based on photos posted by the seller. I knew the car had some issues from the photos, but talking to the seller, he said it was in good condition, a little rough around the edges, but an up-and-running driver. Upon receiving it the car is a bit more rough than I hoped, but isn't too bad, with lots of patina on a pretty old restoration. The car had evidently been neglected in the recent past, however. The brake/clutch master cylinder was leaking profusely and as this hadn't been addressed, the paint all over the bulkhead shelf had started peeling up. It had even started leaking into the car past the pedal seal and heater box ruining the paint behind the carpets. Other issues were MGB wire wheels instead of the 15" MGA ones, Roadster seat covers on the Coupe seat frames (the backs are different shapes so the covers wrinkle badly) a broken-off headlamp dip switch, and a homebrew exhaust that rattles against the rear overrider when the engine is running. My original plan was to drive the car as-is, enjoy it in the fall and spring, and set about doing some of the restoration work as other projects wound up. Unfortunately, it will be a bit of work to get to the point of being able to just enjoy driving it.
