This car came out of the same collection of cars in Idaho that my XJ6 Coupe did, where it had stat for a while, It had been restored to a solid driver condition at some point in the past to a non-original colour scheme, but it works for this car.
The car is largely still stock except for an MGA rear axle which was modified to fit, along with front MGA drum brakes. This has given a much better gear ratio, especially with high torque 1500 engine and significantly more swept area on the drums as compared to the original TF brakes. In order to do this the original owner had crammed the BSF brake line fittings into the MGA pistons. When recommissioning this car, custom lines were made with the BSF fittings on one end and UNF fittings on the other to properly adapt the two systems.
We also rewired this car completely and rebuilt the gauges so they all work and the speedometer is now correct. The car runs and drives very well and is a huge contrast to my 1948 MG TC, having now driven them back-to-back.
