Registry: 1949 Bentley Mark VI

I purchased this car from the local YMCA after the previous owner donated it. It was a surprisingly clean car with no rust issues and had been incredibly well maintained. I've been researching the history of this car and from what I can tell it sounds like I'm the 4th owner. The original owner purchased it in England in 1949 and sold it in 1951 when it came to Califrornia. The next owner kept the car for 55 years before it was sold on to the person who donated it to the YMCA. Unlike what I would have expected for a donated car this one is in incredibly good shape. There are a couple of small holes in the exhaust, but the engine itself is very sound with good compression and runs quietly and smoothly. The car steers very well and shows all the hallmarks of very diligent maintenace over its life. The car is also largely original. The front seat has been recovered, but the rear appears to have original but still very good condition leather upholstery. The car even still has its original and correct Radiomobile tube radio fitted. I had to rebuild the heater which mounts under the passenger seat to get it working and have to sort out a couple of minor issues with lights aside from repairing or replacing the exhaust, but otherwise, it's an incredibly great driver.
