Denny Roper's Journal
I am making some headway on thr"OLD GREEN". found her in field. She is running good for not going thru the carbs. Had to put in a drivers side floor pan and patch the pass side. With a new tunnel cover and a buff, she is starting to look pretty good.
The wife and I spent all day Sunday installing the new carpet set.. Lot of work but well worth it. I'll post some pics later. What a difference new carpet makes especially when what was in her was literally crap. The wife also cleaned and treated the seats. WOW...with the second round of buffing and a new interior "OLD GREEN" is really starting to look great.. Next up is installing the new convertable top......

Denny,
Can you have your wife give my wife a "pep talk" about helping out with the car...?

I finally got up the nerve to install my new Robbins top onto my TR6. Once again without my wifes help it would have been impossible. Everything went really well I think. I had the frame pre prepared and it still took us all day. I had a couple of (off the internet) instruction guides. They were very helpful. There was a lot of head scratching and timeouts to think it through, but we managed quit well. I would recommend that if you want to DYI that you make sure you have lots of time, be patient and don"t be afraid to walk away and think about each step. Since owning the car I have put about 2000 miles on her and is turing into a great daily driver. Next up is anew dash and dash pads, as well as new door cards. Wish me luck....

I'VE BEEN DRIVING OLE GREEN TO WORK (75 MILES RT) NOW ALMOST EVERY DAY SINCE THE WEATHER HAS TURNED. SHE IS GETTING 27 MILES PER AND RUNNING GREAT. GETTING READY TO START REPLACING SOME SUSPENSION PARTS AND TAKE HER ON A ROAD TRIP. I'VE SINCE BOUGHT A 1974 DATSUN 260Z THAT WAS COMPLETELY RESTORED AROUND 1990. I THINK I MIGHT TRY TO TRADER IT OFF FOR ANOTHER TR6 WITH A HARD TOP. MIGHT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT MORE IN THE WINTER. THE Z CAR HAS A GREAT HEATER BUT IS NOT GETTING DRIVEN AS MUCH SINCE THE TOP GOES DOWN ON THE TR6. LOTS OF LITTLE THINGS TO DO TO OLE GREEN YET, JUST TRYING TO FIND THE TIME. ALWAYS AN ISSUE.
