Hope your bar's all mounted spotlighted up and good to go Big AA,

My knowledge is much greater of another sort of bar personally, but looking good.

I've been practicing with my new toy as I reckon my skills in camera angles and such need sharpening, plus learning to us the dang thing. I figure that I need to do a daily blog thingy on YouTube to update folk in where we will be the following day in the hope I can encourage some of you to pop along in whatever steed suits as we pass through.

Definitely more morris minors than this shows would be good.

Cheers Johnny

I have been working yard issues after all the rains....three acres of grass overgrown due to staying too wet to mow. So my ABS panel I ordered in arrived and I cut out 4 of these panels for the rear doors of my van. This set has been marked and drilled and a direct fit to my doors....but before I drill the mounting holes to the other set, I will ensure the holes in these will match the doors of Robbie's van also....if so will give these to him and drill the other set for myself as the template is correct for my doors. I see no reason they will not match, but I have also been bit in the butt before.

Holy cow, those are going to look great. I remember having the van many years ago but don't think I ever had the inserts or covers for those. Nice job...

Thanks....I have been told that while the holes were in the panels for the screws from the factor....they never affixed the panel in production. So not having seen every van made, having not seen these offered for sale, and again, who truly knows everything about these vehicles from conception to production...further mine was a CKD van from New Zealand what may be done in one assembly hall not necessary the rule of practice in yet another....I only knew I would place a panel here when I first saw the doors on my van. The Morris Minor was rarely adorned with many luxury items and as simple a car as one could get which made it the most practical car for the age. A true 'repairable' car to last a lifetime if cared for. I made a set for myself and a set for my friend from 1/8 thick ABS panel. I cannot seem to photograph these side by side and not show them a bit wonky...but they are not, it is an optical illusion. They are not faded either, as shown by Mr. Camera-flash.

Hey Tim as I know very little about the van exactly where do these ABS panels adhere on the door? I’m curious to know. A photo would be great.

Thanks Donny B

I have a photo of the door..nothing with the new panel fitted....I just made a template and marked the holes for the screws and made my panel and prefit. No pics of panel on the door...but the lower part of the rear van doors has these opening and I will post a pic o that for you.....

This is what I did for my triangles. I used 1/4 inch foamcore, some thin batting and maroon vinyl that matched the interior. I will see if I can take a close up photo later.

ah yeah, I was going to comment earlier on the plush look but had to run to town....I picked up some stainless steel escutcheons while out and about today and correct size oval head screws to trim it all out with. Dropped the set I have drilled by my buds who will check the fit to his door....if wrong...I will mark and drill the remaining set to his doors specific. The ones I dropped off are nice fit for my doors....just hoping there is a constant in the stampings.

You paint appears to be almond on the inside...is it the same as exterior color for the other pictures shows it very close to the sand tan I am spraying on mine, lighting makes true color hard to discern.

In reply to # 51082 by rep845 johnnyw637 I understand you did an excellent article on installing the electric fan on your Traveler. I have one ordered for my 1967 tourer and would love to have the benefit of your expertise and experience.

johnnyw637,

I suggested that rep845 (Richard Perry) post a request about how you mounted an electric fan on your Traveller.

bigaadams... The paint color for the exterior and the interior is identical. The photos were taken at different times and under different lighting. Hence the difference. The close up of the triangle is close to the actual color but the real color has a little tinge of green and red mixed in. The attached photo is a real close color indicator.

thanks for the photo of your spiffy looking van in the better lighting for true color. Every time I see one of these vans it spurs me onward as I work to mine back together.

My bud sent me a message he has fitted the inserts onto his doors, and they fit perfect. He had put his phone on charge before walking to the shop thus he was unable to snap a picture of his install at this time. I am happy to hear they fit as that means the template I made, is valid.

Hi Ian,

A long time since I did that, must have been 2018,
but paid for itself when stuck in long queues of traffic waiting to go over the newly opened road bridge at Edinburgh.

Hard to give specific details now, but basically it's a secondary fan only used when in heavy traffic a sadly all too common event over here. My main fan being the bog standard factory one.

Anyway I took the grille off and made a small frame out of flat bar on which to mount the narrow ebay purchased electric fan. Reversed the polarity on the fan as I was pushing rather than pulling air and it's done a good job. I fitted one, on my Midget to, some folk have told me it isn't right, but it does the job and has kept both engines from boiling on a number of occasions.
Operated with a manual switch in the cab.

Sorry I can't give specific details on measurements and can't remember if I posted any way back, but I'm eating breakfast just now and can't remember what I had for tea(dinner) last night smiling smiley

And that van does look good Jessica and Big AA good luck with yours thumbs up

All the best Johnny
