Well this week we did an oil change. Gearbox oil change, checked the dash pot.
Mel clean the fuse contact which resulted in working indicators and horn.
We even got to go to a small British only car show in El Segundo,Ca. 22 mile round trip. Only one large hill on the way there.

I tried to get the indicator warning light going in my 1953 minor. The light in the indicator switch ( flick switch under dash) has been superseeded by a light on the dash. This has not gone for a while, o I am trying to get a led light going. After reading up on the subject I now know the light is powered by the flasher unit under the bonnet. Now my weekend project!!!

Hi Greg
If it's anything like the circuit for the later 1000 indicators the light in the dash is the earth point for the flasher unit and must be the correct resistance/wattage for everything to work. I recently swapped to LED bulbs for the indicators and had to put in an electronic flasher. That was when I found the dash bulb wouldn't behave. long story short; I earthed the flasher at the body and moved the dash light wire to the output side of the flasher [49a] where it feeds to the relay box [#1] (if your car has the relay box
)

My son, Tom III came out to the 'burbs via Metra and we left early the following morning in "Sadie" to Blackhawk Farms raceway, a very nice road racing course in Rockton, IL - right on the Wisconsin border. It was the annual Father's Day weekend vintage races. 96 fault-free miles round trip, probably the longest single day road trip I have taken in her. Two fairly big guys singing down the road being pulled along by 948ccs of good, old-fashioned internal combustion. The roads were all two-lane rural, tree-lined ribbons of asphalt and the weather was absolutely perfect. One of the best days out I have had in a very, very long time.

Thanks, Rick - I almost certainly saw your Bugeye as I took way too many photos. A few people teased me that I should have went to tech and entered "H" production! LOL. I know a lot of the T series guys and usually stop by to see them. I just love that place. Road America is wonderful too - but it's gotten a little too big for it's britches as far as "regular guy" vintage racing events go - in my humble opinion anyway

Tom - There is no more "run what you brung." Safety rules and competition demand more, and really, that's good. there are fewer issues and people have more fun. I see you have rejoined the Vintage MG club, so now we'll search for a car to join Sadie in your garage. in other news, the British Car Festival will be held on September 12 and I expect to see a fine turnout of Morris Minors, and maybe a Morris 10 or two. The location is the same, Harper College in Palatine, IL. I got my Model T running again yesterday, drove it around without incident, and put it on wheel dollies. I have it pushed to the back of the garage, so I have all the cars in the garage at once for the first time in months. That means that I can go back to work on Miss Marple and fix that pesky gearbox.

Tom - I'm on the board of the British Car Union, I'm secretary to the Vintage MG Car Club, a member of the Chicagoland MG Club, and I'm a member of the New England MG T Register.The Midwest Morris Owners Organization doesn't meet, but it has a website and I joined once. Now I've joined the Model T Ford Club of America, Model T Ford International, and the local chapter of same, and the Horseless Carriage Club of America. Add to that the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and that's a lot of clubs. Show that to your wife. It should make her feel better. Today I'm messing with the driver's side door latch on the MG. It's a problem with many wood-framed MGs, and I had it sorted when I restored the car, but that was six years ago and now it's back to it's old ornery ways. It' isn't good to fall out of a car when It's running.

Believe it or not, Ray - we're about even. Not that I actually own any of the cars for which I have all the club memberships. Much to my wife's relief!!
It's never a good idea to have loose door latches. Especially when they're hinged at the rear!?

A couple more from Blackhawk Farms...
In August of 2019 the odometer turned to 80,000. So 1086 miles in not quite two years is pathetic.
