For a mirror for a car with the metal base you might try Springfield Auto Recyclers who have a Minor two door in stock. Year is circa 1959 but not sure if this car still has its mirror in place.

With that in mind and not wanting to go with something too obscure is there a good source for used parts for the Morris where i might be able to pick up a rearview mirror?

That's good news that the structure is all there. In the future you may be able to straighten it all. Without seeing the entire headliner, I suspect it was installed as one piece from the front to the back thus eliminating the silly step at the end of the cab. That must have been the goal and in that regard it was successful. The mirror mounted to a strut might be a good solution. A simple plate attached to two of the holes for the original mirror would secure the top and the bottom just needs a hole to locate it.
