Lovely car George and wonderful you have your original plate.
Sorry I can't help with the original owner, it was so much easier before data protection, when the DVLC would give you all that. I was lucky and the previous owner had already done that for mine:
Morris Minor Traveller
646 FKA
Owned since 1987 to November 2017 by Mr. G. Oakes
Original Registration Particulars:
Reg. No. 646 FKA. Taxation Class Private. Make Morris.
Model Minor. Colour Grey. Body Type Traveller. Fuel Petrol.
Chassis No. MAW3800257. Engine No. 365147. Rating 948 cc.
Date of Original Registration 8th February 1960.
Vehicle History - Owners:
08/02/1960 : J. R. Peterson of Liverpool
08/05/1980 : P. J. Peterson of Liverpool
06/05/1982 : J. R. Adams of Middlewich
20/11/1984 : A. F. Gilbertson of Alsager
23/05/1987 : D. A. Grocott of Norton
27/11/1987 : G. Oakes of Norton
18/11/2017 : J. Warner of Norwich
Changes to Vehicle:
Complete rebuild from 1987 to 1992
08/07/1992: 1098 cc engine fitted. No. 10MA-U-H216687
I guess you know if you contact the Heritage Museum at Gaydon that you can get a Heritage plate that tells you of how it left the factory and where it went.
All the best and drive and enjoy
Johnny

Very nice! I don't recognise the number from my years oop narth, but it looks great. I particularly like the original wheel trims, a very nice late-60s touch. Mine's a 1968 convertible called Trixie. If we find ourselves up there we should bring them together!

Hi. I'm Dick Lucore in Santa Rosa, California. In a prior life I was an educator, and I am now retired and trying to restore my newly acquired 1957 MM 1000 2 door Saloon. Photos later.
I'm new to this, but here goes. My treasure needs a headliner! Specifically, it needs the frame for the headliner as I can get the headliner itself from a number of sources.
Does anyone have a spare frame or know of a source for a frame? I'm anxious to begin my cosmetic restoration.
Thanks, Dick

Dick,
Two things that will help you going forward:
1) complete your profile by including your car information\
2) post your need for the headliner on hte Buy, Sell & Trade section.
Good luck to you as you work on you Minor!

Thanks, Clive. The wheel trims were from my first Minor as are the actual number plates. My first one was a 1960, I bought it in 1970 as my first car, sadly by 1978 the underside had become too rusty and the poor little car was scrapped.
Obviously I treat this new one very gently, but I remember with the first one it was foot to the floor where ever I went and it did not blow up !

GREAT picture! I love the 70s style: you rock the hair and the plaid jacket! Are you still in the north of England? I had several Minors in the Manchester area from 1976-81. 499FYO: Trafalgar Blue 2-door; ECY861C Dove Grey (later Maroon! I sprayed it myself...); a 1964 green Traveller I bought and sold to my therapist, can't remember the number; and a 1959 blue 2-door I found in a garage behind the flats where I lived in Stockport. The 2-door was stolen and recovered (9 months later - oh, the observant Manchester police: it was parked on the road all that time!...) and eventually died when a friend (who I'd sold it to) ran it over a kerb and the crossmember gave way, releasing the torsion bar to the front suspension! Right outside my house as well. Great times - maybe through rose-tinted specs...

Or this?
https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body-inc-panels-trim-c21/trim-parts-carpets-c35/headlining-tensioning-wire-saloon-30-foot-length-p829045
ESM provides both Traveller/Pickup tensioning wire and the same for the saloon. You may just need more of it for the saloon. They also provide a Headlining Front Retaining Board, if that's part of what you need. But you'll have to have them shipped from the UK. Hope this helps,
Clive

The elusive part that is very difficult to find is the metal bows the suspend the headliner across the roof. Often when someone decided to remove the headliner, they threw everything away except maybe the headboard which is difficult to remove. Anyone scrapping a Minor should save these as well as half shafts.

Hi Gang
Even though I realise that this is a US forum, I've joined up today because I will certainly use this site as an information resource and I might actually want to share something for others, so here I am.
I have a 1961 2-door that I bought in Germany this summer. It had been standing idle outside but under a cover for almost 20-years but was reasonably solid, at least the places I could see and reach. I will state openly that the photo I've attached makes it look amazing after just giving it a wash - but it flatters itself.
Lots and lots of work to do, engine has come out and in the process of being stripped down for a rebuild. Virtually everything else will need attention but I'm going to get the engine running first.
Thanks for having me along, looking forward to the interactions.
Cheers

Welcome to the fun!
It looks very nice considering it being stored under a tarp so long. Visually it appears
in better shape than my traveler which was garaged for 25-30 years before being rescued...
I bought a ‘67 Mini years ago and the back gutter was mostly rusted off due to a tarp garage in Santa Cruz, CA.

not sure of the sedan but as Jim stated, there is a metal bow midway in my van headliner that also is tensioned by the wires as the wire runs through hoops on each end of the bow as it spans the roof. I would think the sedan would have a few of said supports in their make up.
I've seen better days but they have cost me more money..!
5 out of 5 people usually think the other 4 are idiots....
