I fitted LED bulbs to these Lucas PL repro headlamps in my MGTD and they do provide great illumination with little current draw but a strange issue occurred afterward. The small main beam warning lamp in the bottom of the speedo stays on with the headlamps on dipped or main beam. A long and complex explanation from the supplier said this could happen and there was some sort of relay solution I could fit but never did.

The problem with leds can be that because of their lower current draw they can cause issues with leaky earths in old cars. I used on of these in my indicator circuit to stop the indicator stalk ligh5 glowing all the time. Basically they only allow current to flow one way, so if you have an imperfect harness or leaky earths they stop current flowing back the other way.
