Can someone tell me how to convert my car to negative earth? I know you switch the battery leads, but what does it mean to flash the generator? Is there anything else required to do? I am sure there is a thread on this, however, I cannot seem to find one.

Thanks,

Shawn

2 methods to flash a generator Shawn.
The simplest is to connect a lead light
from the battery live
to the big pole / post.
on the generator.

Then start the engine.

When the lead light goes out
you have polarise you generator
according to the way you battery is connected.

Now remove the lead light.

Job done.
I use an 21W bulb in my lead light.

The other way involves briefly jumping
a current from the battery live
to your generators big post / pole.
Hence the term flashing.

As flashing in the UK anyway,
conjures up visions of dirty old men
flashing their genitalia
I prefer the lead light method.

Is there anything else required to do? Have a brew,
Drive round a but basking what at your genius winking smiley
I am sure there is a thread on this, however, I cannot seem to find one.

Thanks,

Shawn

Lead light in this case is a
12v light on the end of a lead,
with croc clips on the other end

Inspection light.
Emergency light
