Your 1275 most likely came from a Spridget which didn't have the engine steady. Engines in Minors had a longer stud. You should also flip the steady bracket over for better alignment and less stress on the rubber bushings. Also do not pull or push the engine. The steady should be unloaded at rest.

Jim,

I'm thinking the same as to where my motor came from. With the possibility of the head studs being longer on the Minor motor, do you know if the studs from a minor motor will interchange in my motor? If not, I was thinking when I take the head to the machine shop for a valve job, I could have them mill the head, just in the bracket area, to accommodate the thickness of the bracket????

A 1275 might have the higher strength studs. Are there dimples in the end? There nothing special about the studs. Your machine shop could get or make you one that's just a bit longer. Of course rolled threads are better than cut threads.

Jim,

That's food for though regarding different strength studs. Monday I will try and contact ARP Stud Manf. and see if they have any feed-back regarding our conversation.

Thank you again for your professional input,

Mike
