I have recently purchased a Morris Minor 1000 2 door saloon called Nellie, and I was told that the strange light on her drivers side just next to the top left hand corner of the drivers door is a nurses light. I have been looking for a new plastic cover for it as the one it has is falling apart and now covered in tape to keep it together, but I have not been able to find one, or even a car with the same light. If anyone knows about this light and where I could get the plastic cover for it, it would be very useful to know.
Thank You
Hopthefrog.

Georgina. There were a lot of those lights since it was once a law that you had to have a small light whenever you were parked, or so I believe. A picture would help identify which model, along with any markings on it. I have several in boxes in the shed.

Google "parking light classic car" for some suggestions.

my light looks like this, (apologies for the bad photo quality) I was tld it was a nurses light, but I may be wrong. I am not sure if it is an original light, and if it's not I wouldn't mind changing it to one that is.

Not original to the car so if it were mine I would remove it. I don't think it is even necessary anymore, if it is find something better looking.

What wattage is the bulb?

I daresay you will find one at a show / boot sale

It was probably original to
District Nurses car and to
Midwife's cars in that area

Besides which, it's an interesting feature
of a car modified for a specific use.

Hi, Personally I would keep the light, its part of the cars history, however I would not get to het up on it being the one currently fitted.

The one pictured I suspect is an aftermarket one fitted by the supplying company, and they probably picked up something locally from a parts supplier. there is an old Lucas item that is close

is there an additional switch for this light, I love a bit of history or quirks, all make life more interesting smiling smiley

I think you published an incorrect link Andrew.
My money says it's an old caravan side / marker light
Depends on the wattage of the bulb.

If there is a model builders club in your area, someone could make a silicone mold from the old one and make some new ones. That's what I'd do. Mold it in clear and then paint the inside red and amber. Also, 3D printers are fairly available these days. Someone could make one with a 3D printer.
