Take the spring out of the oil seal
Shorten the spring.
Replace the spring

Time will tell if the problem is gone. I only get it it up to 70 mph for short distances these days, one exit to next is 4 miles on the freeway I use so not much time for getting too hot.I will keep in mind your valuable knowledge on the subject and install the looser bearing if I detect a problem again. Been driving, doing my own work on these cars since 1963. Only 72 so slowing down.
