Does your licence cover you to drive a car with a manual gearbox Roy?

I’m in Cornwall, just outside Truro! Unfortunately my minor is still off the road since I started a restoration 15 years ago!!!

What knowledge do you need about the clutch?

We started it then pesky children came along! Then we moved 250 miles down the country, then bought more projects!!

2, 3, and 4 have syncromesh.
You shouldn't need go double d to go from 3 to 2 Roy.

It's not a fast change in a Minor.

That said, it's a useful skill to have.

Do you know worn is your gearbox is please?

Do you know how much oil you have in your box please?
It should be engine oil.
The thinner the better really.

Just take your time, clutch down, out of 3rd, clutch up, I like to give it a little blip of throttle, clutch down, select 2nd.. but as has been said 2nd shouldn’t need it, unless the synchro is worn out.

May I suggest you try a Minor with a new gearbox Roy?

Whilst new boxes aren't exactly cheap,
they are a good investment
if you have to descend a lot of hills.
