I have a number of moggy wheels with tyres, some good some not so good, think there's about 8 of em, free to a good home. Maybe you'd like to make a small donation to this site. You'll need to collect from Daventry.

Hello Martin,

I was hoping you or another forum member may be able to tell me about Morris wheels. I believe there are two basic Morris rims that were produced for the Morris Minors. The original wheel rim being about 3.5" wide and made for sometime before a wider 4.5" wheel rim was produced for the commercial Morris, is this correct?
Anyhow I have just bought a set of the 'wide morris commercial' wheel rims that I am thinking of putting on the four door saloon to enable wider radial tyres to be safely put on. The problem I have is that these rims have had a section welded into them which makes me think they are not original commercial wheel set as I would have expected the original wheels to have been pressed from one piece.
Can someone tell me with certainty whether the commercial wheels were a wider one piece rim or were they just added a piece in to the original narrow rims?
