Hi,
We are the liddle family. We recently purchased what is registered as a 1957 morris tourer.
We cannot seem to confirm that this is indeed what we bought.
I have attached photos, we would really appreciate any feedback.
- the window in the convertable top is small and glass !

The doors and what I can see of the rear body appears to be, but all the front sheet metal certainly is not. The split window would make it a Series II, not a 1000 though. Is there an ID plate on the firewall with the chassis number on it?

That is a typical Series 2 badge (glovebox door, right?), but I don't recognize the VIN number sequence. Cars built in Australia have their own numbering system, so it could still be correct however.

Here's the dash from my Series 2. They are different from the 1000 dash in that the 1000 has a centralized speedo and fuel gauge. The oil pressure gauge was dropped from the 1000.

Do you have under bonnet pictures of some of the rear of the car?

I'd say it's probably a death trap Kath.

The front panels look to be made from fibreglass.
The correct front on a Minor's a good crumple zone.

Can you take a pic of the chassis plate?

SMM prefix = Series MM (pre 803)

51 = CKD

OBE = ? FB for 2dr/ FC for Tourer/OEB for van

If UK export you'll have a body number,

Morris MS front wings or maybe Wolseley 4/50-ish?

Kath Liddle, you have a most novel or unusual front on your Series MM!

The chassis number indicates the car is quite a lot earlier than 1957, and we await to see what type the engine is!

With the changes wrought to the front panels, it'd be interesting to see how that was done, and from what other model the guards/wings were obtained.

As others have said, photos all around would also be a great help!

I have quite a few spares, if ever you need bits for an "early car" such as this.

Thanks again.

The car seems to be a real mixture of components, in that it has the early Series MM dashboard grille (without a "disfiguring" ashtray insert), yet it has the later-style plastic badge on the glovebox lid.

Still - for us to view and be informed - there are no photos posted to show which engine this car is fitted with!

In my judgement the front wings are modified from a Morris Six circa 1952 (see pic of the blue car) and the grill is an upside down Wolseley 15-60 circa 1959 but without the illuminated badge. (see pic of the two tone car)

John, I didn't realize you were so tall. Could they be Oxford wings with some modifications? How many Morris Sixes were made? The wheels seem to be out farther. Very likely many mechanical modifications as well.
