Bonnet release

Just joined the Morris Minor Forum and look forward to many hours of chat about 'Moggies' I have just purchased a '68 traveller which requires a touch of TLC. One of the problems I have encountered is gettingn the bonnet open. I owned one of these back in the 60's and as I remember it the bonnet pull was on the drivers side, but not on my most recent purchase. Is there a way of opening the bonnet if the 'pull' is broken? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks

I have an interest in the answer as well. I have a parts truck that has had the release mechanism dislodged or disconnected and the bonnet is closed! I have tried releasing the catch with a long screwdriver but I think the wedging effect of squeezing the screwdriver between the bonnet and the grill panel applied too much pressure on the release catch and it would not pop open! Long arms and a lift would be helpful.
