Have owned and tinkered with Minors since 1968, first in Hampshire, UK and since 1974 here in Melbourne, Australia.
I have recently completed the total resto of a Minor 1000 Convertible. To build the car I used parts from a genuine, rusted-out 1000 Convertible. Such a car was a really-rare find here, as no soft-tops were formally imported/assembled in Australia after about 1956 (end of Series 2 assembly). Word may have got back to the Factory that it's generally too hot in Australia to be in a car which is roofless!
This car has a 1275 engine, Toyota 5-speed gearbox, and Morris Major front brakes. When first driven some bad oil-leaks showed-up. After a long period to re-work the engine installation, the fault seems to have been my own "engine-assembly error".........
Mid 2015, I sourced another semi-original 1958 2 door Minor sedan to tinker-with. It is much like having a jigsaw to work-on during quiet Retirement days!
