If you ever need your faith in humanity restored, just buy an MG and start hanging around the MG community. A simple purchase of a roll bar (via the internet) from a local owner, (Brian Livingstone, Silver member on this site)at a very fair price, resulted in coming home with the roll bar and a transmission. Have just purchased a 1970 MGB. The VIN# on the car starts GHN5... but on the ownership document, the number reads GHNS, hence I was refused ownership transfer until I visited my local MG dealership to verify the needed change. Hmmmm, I have been looking for an MG dealer since 1980 and have yet to find one. I think I will have to take a different approach. Does anyone know if GHNS is a valid # as a search of the registry shows a few with "S" and "unknown" as an explanation for that alphanumer...

Tomorrow, the money (at least part of it) will exchange hands for the purchase of a 1970 MGB from a good friend. After 36 years I will again become the owner of an MG. It was in 1967, that the first ownership of an MG (1960 MGA) became a reality. Bought for $60, and about $50 worth of main bearings, it ran like a Swiss watch for two years, at which point, my eyes fell upon a really cool 1965 MGB. Pic#1.
