40 luggage rack

Well it's been awhile since our last update. So here goes, she has had 300 miles on her since my last post. We found some good deals too. I bought 2 good doors for $25 Feb 2012 at the Chicago swap meet. Found a hardtop in May on EBAY for $250 plus a trip to Hilton Head. Original luggage rack for $40 and a wire wheel setup last fall at PULL-A-PART for $200. I posted some pics of her since last time. She'll have her new coat of red this spring, not show quality but good driver quality. LOL

mg 014

I got the Petronix ignition, that I bought in Wheaton, installed. I did that the week after we got back. I put the Isuzu starter in the first week of March and the Saturn alternator last week. OBTW also installed the new seat belts. Wow what a difference. Modern electrics in a classic car what more could you ask for. Still have a ways to go with the body, but mechanically we're ready. This has to be the most fun I've had restoring a car in years. The journet continues........

Posted on: Sunday February 27, 2011

Well here we are at the British swap meet in Wheaton. I came home with a treasure trove of parts. Didnt get my carpet or seat covers, but did get a seat frame, deck lid for the trailer I'm building,a new seat of OEM seat belts for $10,a hood(alot better than the one I have),plus several other items I needed. Total cost, less than $200 dollars. I'm going back to Knoxville a very happy camper. Oh yea and Chicago and Chinatown aren't to bad either, may come back next year to sell.

the shell we bought

Well 10 years and we are still working, although 5 of those years were sitting still because of discouragement. The more we worked the more rust we found. We had the car operational with a motor rebuild and new brakes and clutch,bt the body of horrible. I welded in new floors, repaired the left inner rocker and replaced the outer one. I started out on the passenger side but thats when I got discouraged, more rust. We fast forward to February 2010,bought a GOOD used shell and started to transfer eve...
